December 5th, 2011

Little Lucifier, by Davidoff out of Starlight, pictured at this weekends Whangarei A&P Show, where his 6yr old rider, Saelor-Jade Kinita, picked up 3rd Novice Rider and 4th Open Rider! A fantastic effort for her first A&P, will look forward to watching this combination!

Little Lucifer is the first progeny of Davidoff and has been under wraps for a long time with Janet Bullions whose son, Robert, did such a good job riding Little Lucifer for the first decade of his life.

Davidoff jumps about once a year and when he does he does it well! Just like his progeny, Davidoff loves showjumping and shows his immense versatility off.

Davidoff’s parents doing well (current photos)

Dressman I., the international superstar

Davidoff’s sire, Dressman I., is now 23 years old and retired from his international career. So far he has left 26 LICENCED stallions, which means that of his progeny 26 received the privilege to be allowed to breed officially. In Germany the licensing (Koerung) is a strict process and for a foal to receive a pedigree and papers, they have to be sired by a licensed stallion. When a Stallion has sired many licensed progeny, this is a proof that his breeding is strong, he throws his traits dominantly, has a full pedigree and he is very well bred. The licensing also includes a stallion performance test at age 4, usually a year after the Koerung, where the ponies are tested for rideability, jumping, cross country character, movement and confirmation.

The Big Names in German riding pony breeding, such as Dressman I., Domingo, Niklas I., Nadine St.Pr.St., Suleika St.Pr.St., Nelson, Derby and Merafic, are in the FIRST THREE GENERATIONS in Davidoff’s pedigree. What does this mean? It means the chance of having a quality performance pony foal by breeding to Davidoff is much more certain than by breeding to a stallion who has those bloodlines in the back of his pedigree, the forth or fifth generation.

Davidoff’s siblings on both sides of the pedigree have remarkable successes in all three disciplines. His half-siblings are European Champions and internationally known sires and state premium mares.

Davidoff’s ancestors in the first three generations also stood at 14hh and over, so the chance of getting a tall performance pony is very high when you breed a mare over 14hh with ancestors over 14hh to him. Please remember that both parents leave their genetic information to the foal.

This year another Davidoff offspring joined Naboo Destiny in Australia: well known multi dressage champion and advanced level riding pony, Buckton Dominoff (featured in the NZ Pony Magazine last year), moved to his new home overseas. Sadly, his former rider has turned 17, and he has now the task to teach another young rider the ropes of dressage.

Davidoff’s dam, Mona by Merafic, has reached the great age of 28 years and is still happily grazing with her granddaughter, Divinity, on Waikato’s paddocks.
